Colman Spring & Fall positions
Camp Colman hires a team of Outdoor Environmental Education Instructors every spring and fall to facilitate great outdoor experiences for students, families, and community members. The spring and fall seasons have goals of nurturing a sense of appreciation for the natural world, building skills to foster cooperation and trust, and cultivating self-esteem and independence in all participants. Programs span from teambuilding and high ropes, to environmental science classes, to adventure activities (like canoeing and archery) to silly, fun campfires. We seek creative, compassionate, self-motivated individuals to join us in helping people connect with the outdoors.
The following are typical dates for our two seasons:
Spring : mid-February to early-June
Fall : mid-August to early-November

Teach classes in marine science, forest ecology, outdoor skills, and facilitate group development and challenge course activities. You will work 1-2 evening programs a week. All staff will work approximately 5 days a week; with school groups coming Monday through Friday, and family camps or retreat groups coming Friday through Sunday. Camp staff also assist with many other camp operations, including cleaning and maintenance projects.
Spring and fall staff enjoy many benefits. Staff receive PTO accrual, shared housing, laundry access, wifi access, any meal served in our Dining Hall, a weekly grocery order for staff houses, access to camp facilities (archery range, etc.) when guests are not using it (and with proper training/approval) and potential accommodations for visiting family and friends by request… not to mention a view of the Olympic Mountains over the Puget Sound! The YMCA contributes 12% to your retirement fund after completion of two years of full-time employment in any YMCA.
