Camper Support Coordinator

Minimum age 20

The Camper Support Coordinators provide support to campers and staff, to help campers have a fun and successful time at camp.  Basic job functions include documenting incidents and trends in the camp community, reaching out to parents, guardians or case workers and sharing insight with staff to create the most successful camp experience for campers, seeking out ways to help campers be successful in their cabin group, fielding information related to suspected abuse and communicating with Washington State Child Protective Services (CPS)

*Graduate education or significant work experience, either completed or in process, in Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, or related fields is required. Life experience is valued as much as educational background and lack of education should not be a barrier to joining our community.

Adventure Team

Minimum age 19

Adventure Team Program Counselors facilitate all of our low and high Challenge Course elements, as well as many group initiatives. All Program Counselors live in cabins with Cabin Counselors and campers, providing additional supervision and support when not working in their assigned program area. During staff training at Camp Colman, Adventure Team members complete an intensive challenge course facilitation training led by Synergo. We are looking for applicants who have some challenge course experience, even if only as a participant, and who love helping people to push themselves and learn from their experiences. Applicants must be very safety conscious and dedicated to using good practices at all times. The ability to be physically active and spend time 30-60 feet off the ground is also importantAdventure Team Program Counselors perform other duties as assigned and are led by the Adventure Team Director.

Aquatics Counselor

Minimum age 18

Aquatics Program Counselors facilitate and supervise our waterfront activities during the Camp Colman summer program. These activities include boating, dock jumps, pool parties, open recreation, swim lessons, polar bear swims, and more! Other duties include cleaning and caring for the equipment. Program Counselors live in cabins with Cabin Counselors and campers, serving as additional supervision and support when not working in their assigned program area. Those who have spent time as a certified lifeguard, swim instructor, or swim coach are especially encouraged to apply. Applicants must be able to swim 500 yards uninterrupted and dive up to 12 feet in open water. We will offer a lifeguard course prior to the start of staff training for individuals who are not already certified. Aquatics Program Counselors perform other duties as assigned and are led by the Aquatics Unit Director. 

Challenge Course Director

Minimum age 21

Provides direct supervision to overall operation of adventure program and challenge course counselors. Ensures the supervision and safety of campers at all times.

Camp Nurse

Minimum age 21

Manages health care for the camp; supervises health and cleanliness standards; works with camp director and staff to provide adequate physical health conditions for all. Ensures the supervision and safety of campers at all times.

Health Aide

Minimum age 18

Health Aides work closely with the Health Care Manager, and volunteer nurses and doctors to support the health and safety of our campers. Basic job functions include assisting in the management of the Health Center, maintaining the health of campers and staff and properly packing medication for overnight trips. Nursing or pre-nursing students preferred. Health Aides are supervised by the Camp Nurse and Program Director, live in cabins with campers and Cabin Counselors, and perform other duties as assigned.

Photographer

Minimum age 18

The Photographer works to photograph and record the day to day life of Camp Colman through pictures and/or video
