Climbing & Challenge Positions

Our Climbing and Challenge Positions are based out of different YMCA of Greater Seattle branches. Depending on where you live and where you might want to work, there may be only a few of these positions available to you in your area.

Be aware that no matter the position, we are looking for individuals who are passionate about youth and facilitation, and who are comfortable working outdoors in extreme environments. Being able to physically work on the challenge courses and climbing walls and being comfortable at heights of 20-40 feet is strongly recommended. 

Additional training and site-specific certification is provided and required.

Previous experience may be preferred or required, depending on the position.

Challenge Course Facilitator

Minimum Age 18

Challenge Course Facilitators are able to work all of our Low and High Challenge Course elements in Woodinville, Issaquah, and Auburn, as well as our portable ground-based teambuilding programs. We are looking for applicants who have challenge course and facilitation experience, and who love helping people to push themselves and learn from their adventures. Applicants must be safety conscious and dedicated to using good practices at all times. The ability to be physically active and spend time 30-60 feet off the ground is also important. Additional site-specific training and certification is provided.

Rock Climbing Instructor

Minimum Age 18
 

Rock Climbing Instructors are able to work at all of our artificial climbing sites in the YMCA of Greater Seattle area. Depending on your age and experience level, you may be hired on as a Staff Belayer, or as a Rock Climbing Instructor. All of our climbing positions involve working with various ages, teaching skills, instructing participants, and ensuring a safe and organized climbing environment. We have 3 different climbing sites in the Seattle Metro area, including Shoreline, Bothell, and SeaTac. Training and certification is provided, and required to work at these locations. Applicants must be able to accommodate the physical requirements of rock climbing, as well as be able to climb to heights of 25-40 feet.
