Operations Supervisor

Age 21+ preferred

Outdoor Leadership is seeking a self-starting, organized, and flexible Operations Supervisor who shares our commitment to multicultural youth development, community building, and volunteerism. The Operations Supervisors primary responsibilities are to manage the day-to-day operations of the Cascade People’s Center and to oversee trip logistics for the B.O.L.D. & G.O.L.D. (Boys Outdoor Leadership Development & Girls Outdoor Leadership Development) and YMCA Earth Service Corps programs. This individual will work from the Outdoor Leadership offices at the Cascade People’s Center in the South Lake Union area of Seattle to fulfill job duties. This is a year-round, full-time, non-exempt position that reports to the Outdoor Leadership Director.

Wilderness Instructor

Age 21+ preferred
 

This is the person leading, inspiring, and providing a physically and emotionally safe space for our students on our 8-22 day wilderness based expeditions.  We are looking for backpackers, climbers, and mountaineers who want to share their experience with young people.  If you are a talented educator who thrives in an outdoor setting then click the link below to apply. 

 

Wilderness Program Course Director

Minimum age 21
 

This person is a mentor and role model to students and staff alike. Wilderness Program Course Directors oversee the delivery of 3-4 expeditions per week. This person is responsible for all educational and logistical aspects of those trips to ensure successful delivery of those trips.

Assistant Logistics Coordinator 

Minimum age 21
 
 

This person is responsible for helping manage our logistical systems and support of our 60-70 wilderness based-expeditions. As a member of our expedition support team, this person will have the opportunity to learn about the behind the scenes work that goes into leading a successful expedition. The Assistant Logistics Coordinator will work closely with our Operations Supervisor and Expedition Support to ensure that all of the programs have the proper equipment and food for a successful trip. 

 

Expedition Support 

Minimum age 18
 

This person has a passion for working with youth in the outdoors and is looking for an opportunity to learn more about what it takes to be a professional.  As a member of our expedition support team, this person will have the opportunity to learn about the behind the scenes work that goes into leading a successful expedition. Expedition Support will work with our Operations Supervisor and Assistant Logistics Coordinator to ensure that all of the programs have the proper equipment and food for a successful trip.  In addition, this person will have the opportunity to step into the field to learn from our incredibly talented Wilderness Instructors.

Internship

Must be a senior or graduating senior from college
 

Learn from Mother Nature herself in this one-of-a-kind internship with BOLD & GOLD. As you gain quality, hands-on experience in outdoor programming you'll also play an integral part in shaping the lives of a diverse, young group of students with every expedition. Internship will take place from mid-June to late-August with trips ranging from 8-22 days.

Dudley Edmondson Fellowship

Designed to cultivate diverse leadership in the experiential and environmental education fields, this fellowship for young adults of color provides an opportunity to develop the talent and tools to make a lasting impact in your community. If you are looking to make a difference in a young person’s life, are willing to challenge yourself physically and emotionally, and are excited about being part of a growing movement then this is for you. Please note that the fellowship uses extended outdoor experiences to reach our goal of empowering young people and facilitating life-changing experiences. While previous outdoor experience is encouraged, it is not required. You will have the opportunity to learn, practice and develop these skills while developing your one unique style of creative leadership.

Mini-bus Driver

Minimum age 21
 

This person will support our programs by driving YMCA Mini-buses (14-passenger) to drop off and pick up our wilderness expeditions, primarily on Saturdays and Sundays. Driving destinations can include North Cascades National Park, Olympic National Park, Mount Baker, and more.
